Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal data BUILDING DIGITAL EMPIRE LLC collects when you use buildingdigitalempire.store, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. We've written it in plain English on purpose.

We do not sell your personal data. We never have and we don't intend to.

1. Who we are

BUILDING DIGITAL EMPIRE LLC ("we", "us") is a limited liability company registered in New Mexico, USA, and is the data controller for information collected through this site.

2. What we collect

You give us directly

• Order details — name, email, phone, delivery and billing address, order notes and gift messages.
• Contact form — name, email, phone (if you add it), order number and your message.
• Bulk enquiries — company name, deadline, quantities, customisation notes.
• Newsletter — your email address, if you subscribe.

Collected automatically

• Technical data — IP address, browser type, device type, referring page, and pages viewed.
• Local storage — your cart, wishlist and bulk list are stored in your own browser, not on our servers.

What we never collect

• Your full card number. Card details are entered on our payment processor's own secure page. They never touch our servers and we never see them.
• Government ID numbers, biometric data, or anything else we don't need to send you a mug.

3. Why we use it

4. Legal basis (GDPR)

If you're in the UK or EEA, we rely on:

• Contract — to process and deliver your order.
• Legitimate interests — to prevent fraud, answer enquiries and improve the site, balanced against your rights.
• Legal obligation — to keep tax and transaction records.
• Consent — for marketing emails and non-essential cookies. You can withdraw it at any time.

5. Who we share it with

Only the parties needed to fulfil your order, and only the minimum they need:

• Payment processors — to take payment securely. They receive your billing details; we receive only a confirmation and the last four digits.
• Shipping carriers (USPS, UPS, FedEx, DHL) — your name, address and phone, so they can deliver.
• Our makers — where an item ships direct, only the delivery name and address. Never your email, phone or payment details.
• Email provider — to send order confirmations and, if you opted in, the newsletter.
• Accountants and legal advisers — where required, under confidentiality.
• Law enforcement — only where legally compelled by a valid order.

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data to anyone, for any price. We don't share it with data brokers or advertising networks for their own purposes.

6. Cookies & local storage

This site is deliberately light on tracking. Here's everything it uses:

These are strictly necessary for the shop to work and stay on your own device — we can't read them remotely. Clear them any time via your browser settings (this will also empty your cart).

7. WhatsApp orders & enquiries

When you tap a WhatsApp button, we compose a message and hand it to WhatsApp. Nothing is sent until you press send in WhatsApp itself — you can read and edit it first.

Once you send it, the conversation is governed by WhatsApp's own privacy policy as well as ours. WhatsApp (Meta) processes the message on their infrastructure, and we have no control over that. We keep the conversation for as long as needed to fulfil and support your order.

Prefer not to use WhatsApp? Email or the contact form work exactly as well.

8. How long we keep it

• Order records — 7 years (US tax and accounting requirements).
• Contact enquiries — 2 years after our last exchange.
• Newsletter subscription — until you unsubscribe.
• Cart, wishlist and bulk list — in your browser, until you clear it.

9. Your rights

Wherever you live, we'll honour these — we don't think rights should depend on your postcode:

• Access — get a copy of what we hold on you.
• Correction — fix anything inaccurate.
• Deletion — have your data erased, except records we're legally required to keep.
• Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format.
• Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests.
• Restriction — ask us to pause processing while a dispute is resolved.
• Withdraw consent — unsubscribe at any time, via the link in any email.
• No discrimination (CCPA) — exercising your rights never affects your pricing or service.

Email info@buildingdigitalempire.store and we'll respond within 30 days. It's free. We may ask you to confirm your identity first, so we don't hand your data to someone else.

UK/EEA residents may also complain to their local supervisory authority (in the UK, the ICO at ico.org.uk). We'd rather you came to us first.

10. Security

• The whole site is served over HTTPS/TLS.
• Payment data is handled by a PCI-DSS compliant processor — it never reaches our servers.
• Access to order data is limited to staff who need it to do their job.

No system is perfectly secure, and anyone claiming otherwise is selling something. If a breach ever affects your data, we'll notify you and the relevant authority within 72 hours of becoming aware of it.

11. Children

This site isn't intended for anyone under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.

12. Changes & contact

If we make a material change, we'll update the date at the top and — where it significantly affects you — email subscribers directly. We won't quietly widen what we do with your data and hope you don't notice.
